The death toll of the suspected Fulani herdsmen attack on Benue community over the weekend has risen to 59. A traditional ruler, some pregnant women, and little children were killed after the armed herdsmen attacked Gabo village in Nengev and Turan Councils wards of Logo Local Government Area of Benue State on Friday June 17th.
They reportedly carried out another attack on Ugondo community in the same Local government area yesterday morning Sunday June 19th.
Many of the villagers have fled their homes and farmlands following the renewed attacks.
Commenting on the matter, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Moses Yamu,said more mobile policemen have been drafted to the area to forestall further attacks.
