An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 30-year-old unemployed man, Emmanuel Ijoko, in Kirikiri Prisons for stealing a pair of jeans-trousers valued at N3,500. The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Osinbajo, remanded the accused after he had pleaded guilty to the offence of stealing.

Osinbajo adjourned the case till Dec. 4 for sentencing. The accused lives at 6, Ilo St., Off Ipodo Street, Ikeja. The prosecutor, Insp. Frank Inah, told the court that the offence was committed on Nov. 23 at Shop 35, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja.

Inah said that the complainant, Mr Joseph Ogba, was inside his shop attending to customers when the accused stole a pair of jeans-trousers displayed outside the shop.

“He was almost going when someone from the other shop sighted him and ran after him. “The value of the jeans-trousers is N3,500 and the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011,” he said.
